Factions Of Bollywood:
Malhotra’s 100 years of Cinema show had all factions of Bollywood well represented on the runway. The collection that drew inspiration from different cinematic eras had directors Anurag Kashyap, Karan Johar, Dibakar Banerjee and Zoya Akhtar, Priyanka Chopra and new boys on the block Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan, along with songstress Asha Bhonsle and Oscar-winning costume designer Bhanu Athaiya, walking the ramp. Actresses Kajol and Karisma Kapor looked on from front row.
The label has adopted 45 girl workers from the Village of Mijwan, Uttar Pradesh in association with Shabana Azmi’s NGO Mijwan Welfare Society for their intricate and exclusive hand embroidered chikankari, as the brand strongly believes in providing employment for women and empowering women in India. The label has also taken an initiative to develop and procure Kashmiri embroideries such as ari and tilla.
The beautiful workmanship of the Kashmiri craft has resulted in a long association with the brand that provides employment to a number of substantial kashmiri houses.All eyes were set on Kajol as she walked the ramp for ace designer & friend Manish Malhotra at Lakme Fashion Week 2013.
